The Finnish Canadian Chamber of Commerce of western Canada was formed on January 30, 1985 under the provisions of Part II of the Canada Business Corporations Act.

The primary goals of the Chamber of Commerce are:

TO ENCOURAGE THE DEVELOPMENT OF BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN WESTERN CANADIAN COMPANIES AND FINNISH COMPANIES.

TO ACT AS A FORUM FOR TECHNOLOGY AND IDEA EXCHANGE BETWEEN MEMBERS OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN ORDER TO AID IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW BUSINESS.

TO ACT AS A SOURCE OF CULTURAL, TRADE AND ECONOMIC INFoRMATION.

The Finnish Canadian Chamber of Commerce of Western Canada has a mandate to develop trade relations between interested parties in Finland and British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon and the Nort West Territories.

The membership generally meets to enjoy a pleasant lunch and listen to well-known speakers air their views on topical economic, trade and political subjects. Special meetings are called on occasion to coincide with the schedules of trade delegations, senior politicians or special events of interest to the Chamber of Commerce membership.
